Amazon Seller Sourcing Checklist

To ensure long-term profitability and account health, every potential lead must be vetted against this checklist. Failure to verify these metrics can lead to capital loss or Intellectual Property (IP) complaints.

Minimum BuyBox Price: $15.00

  • Listings with a BuyBox below $15.00 generally do not provide enough margin after FBA fees and shipping costs to be viable.

Net Profit Minimum: $3.00

  • A $3.00 profit floor is only acceptable if the item is low-cost and features an extremely high sales velocity.

Return on Investment (ROI) Requirements

  • Standard Minimum: Aim for a 35% ROI when starting your sourcing journey.

  • Scaling Standard: As you become proficient in reading Keepa charts and managing price risk, a 25% ROI is acceptable for high-volume ASINs.

Monthly Sales Velocity

  • Minimum Threshold: The item must have at least 100 sales per month.

  • Verification: Check the Offers tab on Keepa to confirm the actual number of units sold by other third-party sellers in the previous 30 days.

Keepa Chart Analysis

  • IP Risk Assessment: Ensure there are no sudden drops in seller count that indicate Intellectual Property enforcement.

  • Price Stability: Confirm the price is consistent. Avoid items that are currently experiencing a price spike or a significant downtrend.

Brand Presence

  • Brand Monitoring: Verify that the Brand Owner is not a seller on the listing.

  • Detection: Check the Keepa or SellerAmp (SAS) offers tab.

  • Risk Factor: Listings where the brand owner is an active seller result in IP complaints approximately 90% of the time.

Categorization and Restrictions

  • Hazmat Check: Confirm the ASIN is not classified under the Hazmat or Dangerous Goods categories.

Source Verification

  • Website Legitimacy: Only source from reputable and legitimate websites.

  • Vetting: Use Trustpilotarrow-up-right to verify the supplier.

  • Warning Sign: If a website has zero reviews or a poor rating, do not proceed with the purchase.
