This guide will teach you how to create and use a catchall email. This tutorial is for NameSilo.
What Is A Catchall Email?
A catch-all email is essential to any bot user/reseller. Allows you to view all of your emails in one place. A catch-all email will allow you to use anything as the local-part of your email.
What Is A Local-Part?
Local-part is the word before the @ in an email. ([email protected]) In other words, it identifies the name of the mailbox, also known as the username of the email address
Can I Use Anything For Local-Part?
YES! For catch-all emails, you will literally be able to use anything as your local-part. Examples: [email protected], [email protected], etc. This means you will be able to to receive all emails to the same mailbox.
Instructions On Creating A Catchall
Step 1
First, you want to purchase a domain. Most of the domains hosted on Name Silo are cheap, roughly less than $10 per domain. -- You have the option to choose your own domain, not all domains will be available, so pick a domain that is. Simply search for the domain you’d like to purchase.
Step 2
Once you have selected your domain, checkout on the site. After you have created an account and checked out, you should be redirected to a page with your account information. On the top of the page, it shows a hyperlink that says manage your domain.
Step 3
Once you click on that link, you will be brought to this page. You want to click on the envelope because you now want to configure your domain so you can receive emails with any local-port in your email (ex. [email protected]).
Step 4
We now want to apply the MX records to enable your catchall to receive emails from any local-part. After you click on the mail icon, you will be brought to this page. Simply click the “click here” hyperlink to setup where you want your emails forwarded to.
Step 5
After clicking on the link, you should be brought to a page where you can configure email forwarding. Scroll down on the page until you see “email forwarding” on the chart. Once you click apply, a screen should pop up. Click “Accept.”
Step 6
Once you accept the changes, MX records will be added. We can now head back to the email forwarding page, under manage domains.
Step 7
Under the “email” input, put *. This will act as a catchall. In the “forwards to” section, you can put the email you’d like your catchall emails to be forwarded to. Click submit.
Step 8
Once you have successfully configured your forwarding address, your screen should look like this.
